Sara Ramirez

Sara Ramirez was born in Mexico. She's an American-Mexican actor. She also sings. Her family was home-schooled by her mother within the USA. She was subjected to racial taunts and being made to feel unwelcome. The confidence started to build at the age of nineteen when she appeared in an audition. She was praised by the judges for her vocal ability. This not only increased her confidence, but also her goals transformed. At 22, she graduated from New York's Julliard School. In the year 23 she made her debut on Broadway with Paul Simon's The Capeman and in films with You've Got Mail. Her biggest break came with the role of The Lady of The Lake as she appeared in the original Broadway version of Spamalot. She was awarded the Tony Award and received great reviews for her role. In the following year, when she was Callie Torres on Grey's Anatomy for ABC her role was given greater recognition. As a well-known singer, she has also released both an album and a musical. Also, she's spoken out in support of LGBT issues.
